Maria Fernandez is an Abstract Painter born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her technique is based on building textures as well as layers of colour of different depth. Maria uses different media; mainly oil, acrylic, cold wax and encaustic, and only experiments with techniques that allow her to express herself with freedom and without any boundaries. By travelling around the world Maria was inspired by the strong artistic culture of all the countries that she has visited, especially by the surroundings in Spain, tango music in Argentina, as much as by the Spanish painters, like the Modern Catalán Masters Miró, Tapiès, Picasso and Salvador Dalí.
This exhibition is a retrospective of some of my work. During the last 10 years I was closely touched by several “unimaginable” events like severe bush fires and a global pandemic. I’ve also learnt, from these experiences and by travelling around the world that there is always a bright side behind the darkness. I wanted to express that through my paintings.
