IMPROMPTU
RAYMOND CARTER
13 Oct to 4 Nov 2017

Raymond Carter is a geometric abstract artist who recently completed a Master of Fine Art (Research) at the Victorian College of the Arts. Carter investigated the use of commercial and industrial materials in constructing his artworks. Setting constraints and limitations in developing his tape paintings, he explores ways of nurturing the contemplative in abstraction.
Raymond Carter’s work draws from a wide array of influences including the aesthetics of the industrial and functional, investigation of skill and technique, performance, music, modernist and contemporary culture. These influences feed into an art practice that is open-ended and without predictable outcome.
