“If you march your Winter Journeys you will have your reward, so long as all you want is a penguin’s egg.” -Apsley Cherry-Garrard

Errance is a wonderful French word, meaning to travel about without any clear destination. The act of going from one place to another. Wandering aimlessly. It’s something that I love to do when I walk, or run, and when I paint.

‘Errance’ is a collection of moments that reflect on the discomfort and awe I felt during my 28-day hike across the Pyrenees GR10 trail. It explores the ideas of struggle, toil, adventure, failure, success and most importantly, aimless wandering.
