Linda Loh is a Melbourne artist who generally makes abstract digital images and video by layering, distorting and re-scaling various light-based sources. That process is informed by a background in painting and an interest in phenomena that is elusive and ephemeral.
This exhibition diverts from that. The video documents snippets of a painting process which occurred in parallel with other digital and video work, while at the Arteles artist residency in Finland during Summer 2018.
It began by using available paper and paints, and evolved without plans over days. It was not precious at the start, nor at the end, but the choices in its making, and the playing in the landscape, were a reminder to the artist of ongoing interests in certain colours, lines, patterns, movements, and juxtapositions. It had a life, but was nonetheless ephemeral.
