UNCONSCIOUS FLESH

JESSICA LEDWICH

9 September to 1 October 2016

Jessica Ledwich’s latest exhibition, Unconscious Flesh, continues her examination of body culture and its dichotomous relationship to sensuality and the Abject.

Through the investigation of our conflicted relationship with the body as an object of fetishisation and repulsion, this work explores the boundaries between the external and internal space to reveal what is normally suppressed and denied.

Engaging both aesthetics and materiality to translate psyche into form, Unconscious Flesh presents a disquieting exploration into the ambiguity that lies between our spiritual desire and the threat of our corporeal selves.
