DRAWINGS FROM MY CONTACTS APP

Each drawing for this show,  Drawings From My Contacts App, has been made whilst in conversation/ companionship with others around me, for the most part over zoom. These have ranged from dearest friends and family members to University program organisers. I subconsciously began to use drawing as a way to document each interaction throughout Melbourn’s extensive lockdowns. It was a way to remind myself of human connection when I was feeling my most alone.

Over the past two years, this project has grown from an individual alone in their bedroom to one of collaboration. A number of the drawings on the wall have been created with the help of friends and family, which given the conceptual underpinnings of the show, just made sense. This exhibition is the outcome of an overwhelming feeling of love and compassion for those around me. And ultimately is a celebration of companionship through hard times.
