 GRAZIA MARIN-THIS FOR FREEDOM

In recent years my artwork has focused on socio/political issues to the extent that I now call myself an activist artist and writer. Coming from a background of post-World War 11 refugees, I am aware of the ravages of war. I recently received a grant from the Moonee Valley Council to complete this series of figurative anti-war paintings in this exhibition. My aim is to bring difficult but important issues to the public in the hope of contributing to a greater awareness and change, especially for human victims. I believe we need to keep discussions ongoing in the hope of preventing a repetition of injustice and tragedy. In effect, we can learn from the past to change the present in the hope of creating a better future.
