EDWARD NIZNIK

7 to 29 October 2016

As a painter, much of my work is focused on the landscape and still life. I am continually exploring different avenues through which I can portray nature, and atmospheric qualities which I find captivating. I have created several bodies of work, moving between painterly abstraction, geometric minimalism as well as representation. In my latest work, intention is to fuse these elements through abstraction, allowing detail and technique yield to spontaneity.
The painting’s subject matter slowly emerges through interaction of colours, shapes and lines, while the subject matter remains ambiguous. My primary goal is to create a space for reflection, with a sense of harmony and flow. The images are formed in an organic, undisciplined fashion and speak through colour and playfulness.
