TIME IS AN ILLUSION. ENTROPY IS REAL.

The common thread running through my work for as long as I can remember is duality. the relationship between foreground and background, the individual in relation to society and more recently visual and cognitive perception relative to reality and delusion.

The images in this collection are based on an illusion called the Necker Cube. When viewed the orientation of the Cube spontaneously changes orientation. In neurological terms this shows that visually, the brain is incapable of perceiving more than one reality simultaneously.

The images are produced by layering unrelated images and merging them to create a single image where multiple realities are discernible and independent, while only perceptible one reality at a time. As the series has evolved the images have become more complex involving more layers whose purpose is to run interference altering the balance between the two two competing realities in the image.
